Meat Sweats & Margs
What's New In Real Estate & Life In New Orleans
Cinco de Mayo landing two days after Jazz Fest feels like the chef sending out a second dessert when you’re already fighting a bad case of the meat sweats.
We just came off eight days of “one more set,” $9 beers, and probably some of the hardest decisions you’ll ever make: Tyler Childers or Stevie Nicks? Crawfish strudel or trout baquet? Leave before traffic or stay until your phone dies and let God sort it out? Everyone walked in with a plan. Everyone abandoned it by 2:15. And somehow, once again, it was perfect.
That’s the trick this city keeps pulling. It can be wet, broke, overheated, under indictment, and still produce a better party than most places could manage with a federal grant and six months of planning. We checked; New Orleans has at least 30 days on the calendar better than the best day in any other city. Even Cinco de Mayo, which would be a full production anywhere else, shows up here like any old taco Tuesday and sheepishly asks to be included.
If you’re going to believe in a place this chaotic, resilient, and stupidly fun, you might as well own a piece of it. Scroll on for this month’s listings.
